Fasting can look different for each person. We encourage everyone to pray and ask God how He is leading them to participate. Faithfulness and obedience matter more than the type of fast you choose.

Partial Fast (Skipping a Meal)

  • What it is: Skipping one or more meals for a set time, such as breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

  • Best for: Beginners, busy schedules, and those with health limitations.

  • How to participate: Use the time you would normally eat to pray, read Scripture, or reflect on God.

Daniel Fast (Fasting Certain Foods)

  • What it is: Eating simple foods such as fruits and vegetables while avoiding meats, sweets, and rich foods.

  • Biblical foundation: Based on Daniel 1:12, where Daniel chose discipline and devotion to honor God.

  • Best for: Those wanting structure, longer fasts (such as 21 days), and families fasting together.

Juice or Liquid Fast

  • What it is: Consuming only liquids, such as water or juice, for a specific period of time

  • Important note: This type of fast requires wisdom and is not appropriate for everyone. Please consult a doctor if you have medical concerns.

  • Best for: Short durations and those without medical restrictions.

Non-Food Fast (Social Media or Entertainment)

  • What it is: Fasting from things that consume time and attention, such as social media, television, streaming, gaming, or entertainment.

  • Why it matters: Removing distractions creates space to focus on prayer and hearing from God.

  • Best for: Those unable to fast food, youth and families, and anyone seeking greater focus and clarity.

Important Reminder

  • Fasting is not about comparison or perfection.

    • Some may fast food.

    • Some may fast meals.

    • Some may fast distractions.

    • What matters most is obedience, sincerity, and a heart turned toward God.
